VR Inductive Charging Station – Assembled Product
VR Charging Station, designed specifically for public spaces like museums. This is the assembled version if you do not want to do it yourself. For DIY see the digital product.
Charging VR headsets has always been challenging, especially since museum personnel need to unplug and plug the charger every day. This constant use leads to significant wear and tear on the charging port, potentially causing damage. Plus, using a standard charging cable is impractical and looks unsightly in installations. By purchasing this product, you order a professionally printed station. You might have guessed: VR-Headset is not included.
My VR Charging Station offers a practical solution with several key features:
- First off, say goodbye to cables with VR inductive charging. Simply place your headset in the station, and it starts charging automatically – hassle-free and super convenient.
- This station is custom-fit for the Pico G3, ensuring everything fits perfectly with accessible buttons and free ventilation.
- With integrated Qi-Charging, your headset stays constantly powered and ready to go. No more worries about running out of battery in the middle of a demo.
- The design is compact and sleek, taking up minimal space while still looking great in any setup.
- Installation is easy with just three screws securing it in place. Plus, hidden cable management means no more messy wires – everything is neatly tucked away.
- The structure is reinforced with cross-directional 3D printing, making it strong and durable.
- For added security, there’s a loop for tethering your headset securely.
You have two options to get your hands on this VR Charging Station:
- You can purchase the 3D model and print the bracket yourself. It’s a cost-effective solution and comes with a detailed guide and links to the Qi-charging components you’ll need.
- Or, you can order a professionally printed and fully assembled charging station directly from me. Just reach out via innovation.haus1@gmail.com and I’ll take care of it.
Need a custom design for a different VR headset? I can help with that too.
You might have some questions, and I’ve got answers:
- Is 3D printing durable enough? Yes, my design is reinforced for stability.
- Does inductive charging work reliably? Absolutely, and the open ventilation prevents overheating.
- Is it difficult to print the bracket yourself? If you’re familiar with 3D printing, it’s straightforward.
With this purchase, you will not receive the 3D Model Files
I print and assemble the Product for you according to the instructions below.
Components might slightly vary, but that will never influence any product features. Materials /Components:
- White printing filament. Recommend matte PLA with good environmental performance, such as PolyTerra PLA.
- Two M3x8 hex socket screws.
- Two M3 threaded inserts.
- Super glue.
- Qi charging pad (maximum diameter 100mm, maximum height 8mm). Recommend this Qi charging pad.
- Qi receiver USB C: Qi Receiver.
- 1.5 mm wire rope and clamps for securing the VR headset.
Printing Instructions
Print the parts according to your 3D printer’s settings. The following orientations are recommended:
- Base: Bottom side on the print bed. No support needed.
- Base Cover: Upside down. Top side on the print bed. No support needed.
- Headset Cover: Front side on the print bed. No support needed.
- Top Bracket: Back side where the screws go on the print bed. Support may be needed.
- Strengthening Element Top: Flat inner side on the print bed. No support needed.
- Strengthening Element Bottom: Left or right side on the print bed. No support needed.
Assembly Instructions
- Insert the threaded inserts into the holes in the Headset Cover so they do not protrude at the top. This can be done easily with a soldering iron.
- Open the charging pad to place it closer to the receiver. Peel off the rubber at the bottom and remove the small screws, then carefully remove the top with a thin tool.
- Trim the excess plastic from the Qi receiver with a cutter so it fits into the holder. Cut close to the electronics, removing one side of the plastic to expose the electronics.
- Glue the strengthening elements to the top and bottom of the headset cover with super glue.
- Before attaching the Headset Cover, secure the wire rope to the designated holes at the top.
- Connect the Qi receiver to the VR headset and attach the Headset Cover to your Pico G3 with the two M3x8 screws.
- Use the three holes in the Base to mount it, place the Qi charging pad inside, route the cable downwards, and close everything with the Base Cover.
